In October 2011 I had the pleasure of meeting some lovely new people and enhancing my massage skills as I spent a weekend at the Livingston venue of Rosslyn Alternatives Massage School taking part in their Foundation Workshop in Holistic Massage.I've been interested in massage for a few years... I've dabbled a bit in massaging friends & family but have never taken it any further with formal training. Over the last couple of years I've been enjoying a fair bit of massage from the lovely Annaliese @ Mi.Bo.So to help sort out my tense muscles, mainly down to bad posture and sitting in front of a computer every day at work.
So when I decided that I wanted to do something a bit different & learn something at the same time, massage was in the shortlist of things to consider.
The weekend workshop is a great introduction to the subject of massage, it's a perfect starting point for total beginners or someone with a wee bit of experience - so no need to worry if you fancy trying it out but have no knowledge of massage. By the end of the weekend you will be able to go home & practice a full body massage on your husband/wife/significant other/family member/victim of your choice.
Over the 2 full days the workshop covers all aspects of a full body massage with the opportunity to receive as well as practice on the other willing participants, each area of the body is detailed separately featuring a demonstration & practical session before moving onto the next area.
Although there is alot of information to take in over the course of the weekend, the tutors create a relaxed environment in which to learn. You also get handouts to take home with you to jog your memory when practicing later on.
I had such a fun time & enjoyed the course so much I've decided to go on & complete the Diploma in Holistic Massage with Ros & Lynn at Rosslyn Alternatives. I'm now looking forward to the course starting in February! ...I'll let you know how I get on :)
